The idea for Foundation Shield came about while dealing with repeated foundation problems at one of our rental properties. Despite our reminding the tenants to water the foundation, they just couldn't find the time. Eventually, we had to have piers installed at a cost well into five figures, at which time we were told the work had a lifetime warranty. Turned out the warranty only covered the piers in the event of further movement, and the house now needed piers on the other side.
After operating as a professional real estate inspector in Texas for several years, Foundation Shield CEO John McMahon was required to render a professional opinion on every foundation he inspected, and it was clear to him that most foundation damage is due to expansive soil and seasonal changes, along with imprecise irrigation—even homeowners who diligently attempted to maintain proper moisture levels were still having problems. John was determined to do something about the millions of dollars in home equity lost every year due to foundation damage, and that's how Foundation Shield was born.
